Specialism: Toolmaker and Tool and Die Maintenance Technician

Requirements: 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science.

Description:

Apprentice Toolmakers will work in the IAC toolroom and are predominantly involved in complex and specialist work, manufacturing and maintaining engineering tooling used in the mass production of components.


Day to day responsibilities:

  • Interpret technical drawings to create operational procedures for the machining of tooling and assemblies.
  • Select and utilise appropriate manufacturing methods from a range of manual, CNC and EDM machinery for required applications.
  • To manufacture precision tooling for both single and multi-stage operation machines.
  • Refurbish damaged or worn tooling back into peak operational form to extend tool life.
